Mother and daughters

Bye-bye!

Fox cubs leave their parents when they are six-months old to seek territories of their own and a partner in unknown domains. It's a dangerous adventure – most of them will die!

Staying home

It there aren't any available new territories, a daughter often remains at home. When her mother gives birth to the next litter, the daughter helps collecting food.

Hello (slurp) mom!

The relationship between mother and daughter is very affectionate. But they differ in rank – the mother dominates her daughter. The daughter greets her mother by licking the mouth's corner. Her posture is low and ears are withdrawn. The mother displays her dominance in a subtle way: head up, a plucky look and active ears.
