A wolf pack consists of a family with several individuals - a reproducing couple and their cubs, one or two years old. Some older cubs may also be part of the group, as well as a brother or sister of one of wolves in the couple. The members of the pack are thus closely related.
The pack has a rank order and the parental couple has a high rank. The cubs are ranked by age. When they grow older their rank order may shift.
Cubs grow sexually mature at two years of age, when they usually leave the pack. They then seek a partner, and a territory of their own.
