Habitat
Tundra, mountain tracts and coniferous forest in the northern hemisphere. In Europe, it is present only in Finland, Scandinavia and Russia.
Diet
During winter, the wolverine lives mainly on domesticated reindeer. It does its own hunting, but also eats remains left by other predators. In the summer, it takes birds, smaller mammals and even plants.
Behaviour patterns
The wolverine lives a solitary life. An individual's home range covers about 300 square kilometres and it may wander long distances to find a home range of its own. It is an excellent tree-climber. Food that remains uneaten is hoarded for future consumption, either by burying it or by dragging it up in a tree.
