Males on the make
A lone male calls to females flying by. He is trying to attract them to his territory.
Insecure
When a female lands in a territory, she displays an attitude that is aggressive, but at the same time somewhat anxious and curiously expectant. The territory is a strange male's domain and she feels insecure.
Enticing behaviour
The male continues to entice, assuming a special position by lowering his upper body while arching his neck so that his bill points upward. He turns sideways to the female. If she is attracted, she assumes the same position alongside the male. Thus begins the formation of a new pair
