Head-up tail-up
The male lifts his wings and tail, stretching his head and neck upwards. If he is interested in a particular female, he turns his side to her and points his bill toward her.
Down-up
The male lifts his tale, with his breast deep in the water. Making a whistling sound, he quickly dips his bill in the water and then withdraws it.
