Two blue tits, a male and a female, have formed a pair and found a home – a fine nesting box in a garden.

Territorial defence

The female perches in the opening. In the foreground is her mate, busy defending their territory against an intruding male which he threatens with outspread wings. The intruder lusts after the territory – and no doubt the female, as well!
