Hoverflies

What about the hoverfly to the right of the yellow jacket? Yellow stripes, yes. Dangerous? Stinger? Not at all! Hoverflies are completely harmless. But that does not prevent us from being a little bit scared of them; and birds avoid them, as well.

By mimicking a dangerous insect, hoverflies avoid being eaten. Another way to cheat death!
