Raised bog
Such a bog can grow so large that its centre section becomes higher than the outer sections. It has now become a "raised bog". A well-known example is Komosse in southern Sweden.
Wet margins
Water continues to run from the surrounding area into the lower margins of the raised bog. This zone remains wet and rich in nutrients, and is still classified as a fen.
